Welcome back! I hope you have enjoyed “getting your feet wet” with coupons this week. If you got your paper on Sunday, you may have noticed that your region could have received up to FOUR coupon inserts. So that’s a great start to getting a good supply of coupons to help you maximize your savings! I have some great information for you today to get those coupons you’ve been clipping this week to work for you even more! Today I’m going to explain how store loyalty cards work, how to get double coupon value & how to earn free gas simply by shopping at your favorite stores.
Besides using coupons, many stores local to our area have other great rewards programs to help you save money. One of the easiest ways to do this is to obtain a store loyalty card. Many stores give special pricing on their products to loyalty card holders. Some stores also have the option to load e-coupons on to your card simply by registering your card on their website, then loading the coupons. Having a loyalty card also means you will get on the store mailing list where you will get sent coupons & advance notice of sales. If you like to shop at drugstores, all of the major chain stores (ex: CVS or Rite Aid) in our area have promotions each week where you can earn “store bucks” by buying select items. The names of the “store bucks” are different at each store, but the premise is the same for all. By using coupons on the items that earn “store bucks” you can pay a fraction of the cost of the product. So getting these cards is definitely worth it. If you don’t already have store loyalty cards, I challenge you to sign up for a card at your favorite grocery store & drug store. Most stores only allow one card per household, but check with the manager if you have any questions or need clarification on the loyalty card policies.
Another benefit to having a store loyalty card is double coupons! Several chain stores in our area will double your coupons if you are a loyalty card member. Before you attempt to redeem any coupons for doubling I suggest contacting your stores customer service desk & requesting to know the stores individual policy. Giant & Weis stores are my favorite places to double coupons, although the individual store policies vary. My local Giant will double the first coupon toward any item as long as the original value is under a dollar (ex. .75 cent coupons double to $1.50). And my local Weis will double the first four coupons toward any item but the value cannot EXCEED a dollar (ex. .75 cent coupons double to $1.00 only). Whichever type of doubling policy you prefer, you can get big savings on your grocery bill. A great example of one of my favorite coupons to double is the .55 cents off any Chi-Chi’s tortillas. My Giant has the packages for $1.29. The coupon doubles to $1.10 making the cost of the tortillas .19 cents!!! The deal gets even better if the tortillas are part of Gas Point Rewards!
Gas Points?? I can earn free gas?? YUP! Many of our local grocery stores also have some type of rewards program which will earn you cents off a gallon, usually good on one fill-up. Giant, Weis & Redners all have a gas reward program & you can obtain specific details at your local stores. However, they all have one thing in common. By purchasing either specific items, quantities or monetary amounts of products you will earn discounted (and potentially free) gas. The deals usually change weekly, although sometimes special types of promotions are run. Gas deals work best if the specific items required for purchase have coupons available. By spending the least amount of money on the products through coupons, then earning gas rewards on those products, you are having your money work double for you! Everyone needs to eat! Everyone needs to put gas in their car! So why pay full price for both? So when you are at the store this week, check out the gas rewards program! Your car & wallet will thank you for it!
Hope you enjoyed learning more about store rewards programs today!! How much can YOU save by using store rewards this week??
