FREE Meat at Giant - No coupons needed!
HAPPY SATURDAY!
If you are anything like me (being a major meal planner & money saver), you probably spend at least part of your day on Saturdays trolling the web to find the best deals for the following week & getting all your coupons for the sales in order. So, while doing JUST that this morning, I came across a great find for Giant next week (starting TOMORROW 2/26). I have two words for you: FREE. MEAT. (insert Happy Dance here).
To get this deal you don't need any coupons (although if you have a few of the matching ones it will make your deal even BETTER!). In next weeks ad, you will see the following promotion: "Get $5 off your meat or seafood purchase when you buy 5 participating products below in a single transaction".
The items listed in the promotion are:
Kraft Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese (including Homestyle & Velveeta) - 2/$4
Kraft Shredded Cheese, Crumbles & Cubes (5.8oz+) - 2/$6
Kraft Velveeta Cheese Product (16oz pkg) - $3.49
Shake & Bake Mix (all varietes) - 2/$4
Kraft Sizzling Salads Dinner Kit - 2/$5
A1 Steak Sauce - $2.99
A1 Marinade - $1.99
There are also several matching coupons out to make these deal even better!
They are:
$1/2 Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese
.75/1 Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese
.50/1 Shake & Bake
$1.00 off fresh chicken or pork wyb 1 Shake & Bake (this is stickie that is on some of the packages of Shake & Bake)
$1.00 off beef wyb 1 A1 Sauce (tearpad coupons sometimes found by the A1 sauce)
.55/1 A1
So when you buy ANY of these 5 items together, you can get yourself $5 worth of meat or seafood FREE! There are no restrictions listed for the amount of times you can do this deal. Although, I would suggest doing multiple transactions if you plan to do it more than once, as it may not work if done multiple times in the same order (this happens a lot with Giant). Look for marked down meat to get bigger quantities included in the deal. It would also work out well to get $5 worth of shrimp or scallops to use in a seafood alfredo this week! Single Ham Steaks are also usually priced under $5 & would be a great addition to add to omelets or top a homemade pizza!
A great example of a transaction would be:
4 Homestyle Mac & Cheese $8.00
1 Shake & Bake Mix $2.00
$10.00 Subtotal
- $2.00 (Use 2 $1/2 Homestyle Mac & Cheese
$8.00 Subtotal
- $1.10 (.55/1 Shake & Bake DOUBLED)
$6.90 TOTAL PRICE for all 5 items PLUS $5 Free Meat (your choice)!
This is an awesome deal, as not too many meat promotions or coupons come along very often! I would also suggest going earlier in the week if your store has limited stock on any of the items you plan to use in your deal. Prices will also vary from store to store, so double check your prices before duplicating this deal above.
I'd love to see what other deals we can make this week! Post them in the comments below if you found a good one!

BACK ONLINE!!
Just a quick update to let my readers know that I am back online since this morning (on a REAL PC, not a mobile!) So starting this weekend, I will be bringing you a more steady stream of updates & continuing with the weekly blog. I apologize for the lull in my updates, but working through my mobile was pretty much impossible (at least for me since I'm mobile-challenged!), so I had to take a little hiatus.
Hope you will forgive me... Maybe a few good deal this posts this weekend will help smooth things over :-D

Project Easter Basket
Good morning and Happy Saturday everyone!
Before I tell you all about Project Easter Basket, I just wanted to note that I am having some technical difficulties with my laptop. What this means is that until I get a new one, I will updating from mobile devices so updates will probably be a bit random and may include some typing errors ;-) So please bear with me while I work out the kinks!
Now.. On to the fun stuff! I don't know about you, but this wave of mild weather has me dreaming of spring, which will be before you know it! There is only about 6 weeks until Easter, so it's time to start planning for your Easter basket fillers and spring decor! Over the next few weeks, I will be posting good deals and freebies all within the Easter theme, helping you fill your baskets for less! If you want a jump on shopping this weekend, there are a few great places to start!
TARGET! Head on over to Target stores, where much of their Valentines Day items are on clearance from 30-75% off! Check out their Valentines stuffers bins where I found Lego mini bag sets for $1.99, Barbie "Little Sisters" dolls for $3.49, and Hello Kitty Pez dispensers for .99 cents. Candy was also 30% off, including M&M's and Hershey Kisses, which can easily be stored in a cool dry place or frozen until Easter. Prices vary from store to store, so don't miss out on this sale. Your store may be marked even less!
HOME DEPOT! If you subscribe to Home Depots mailing list, you may have received an email for $5 off your purchase of $50 or more. So if you plan on shopping for new garden tools, pottery or lawn furniture this weekend, don't forget to check your email and print this coupon to score your savings! Hope you all enjoy your weekend! Feel free to post in the comments if you found any other great deals to share!

Awesomely Cheap Paper Towels!
Good evening everyone!
While shopping at Giant this afternoon, I stumbled upon an awesome sale on Bounty Paper Towels. The Bounty "Extra Soft" variety is on sale this week for .86 cents a roll. Combine that price with the Bounty coupon & it's a great bargain! Granted, these rolls are the smaller ones that are very similar to the "Basic" style, so we're not talking about the HUGE rolls here.
Here is what your price breakdown will look like:
2 Bounty "Extra Soft" rolls
.86 x 2 = $1.72
-$1.00 off any 2 Bounty napkins or single rolls (found in P&G insert expires 2/29)
TOTAL= .72 cents for 2 rolls OR .36 cents a roll
This is an excellent price to stock up on paper towels! With the warmer weather on it's way, I'm trying to get a decent supply myself. ENJOY THE BARGAIN!

DIAPER DEALS - Starting 2/12
NEED DIAPERS??
Next week, both Weis & Giant have some nice diaper promotions. So get your Huggies coupons out!
At Weis, if you spend $21 on Huggies you will receive back at $7 Off Your Next Order checkout coupon (also called a Catalina). Giant is offering the same deal, except you must spend $25 instead.
There will be $2 off coupons available in this Sundays newspaper (2/12) & if you buy smaller size packages of diapers you can use multiple coupons (how awesome is THAT??).
My favorite way to do these types of deals is to checkout twice. I buy diapers on my first order, then use the Catalina check out coupon on my next order of groceries, which is a great way to get a discount on those items which typically don't have coupons (meat & produce). There also doesn't seem to be a limit on the amount of times you can do this deal. If you don't plan on buying groceries, you can still checkout a second time & roll your first checkout coupon as a discount on to another set of diapers. You should keep getting the $7 coupon each time you checkout. But proceed with caution as this doesn't ALWAYS work! Let us know how this deal worked for you by leaving some feedback in the comments!

Getting Ready to Shop!
GETTING READY TO SHOP!!
Welcome back! Now that you are building your coupon stash & have your store loyalty cards, you are ready to shop with coupons! Using coupons to help plan your meals can be an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be a stressful one! Keeping organized & using your information resources wisely will save you from a lot of aggravation, not to mention last minute runs to the store for a forgotten item!
Before you set out to do your grocery shopping for the week, it’s beneficial to do a few things to keep yourself organized & maximize your savings. First, get a copy of the store circular you plan to shop at. Many regions receive the grocery store circulars for the following week in the mail via the Redplum home mailer. Usually this arrives on Wednesday or Thursday & includes some coupons & advertisements for other local businesses, as well. If you don’t receive the weekly mailer, you can still find copies online through blogs & shopping forums. Simply search the name of your store, along with the dates of the following weeks circular, in your favorite search engine. You should be able to find several resources highlighting the next weeks sales. Second, look through the store ad & match up the best sales to the coupons you have available. Many of the blogs or forums previously mentioned may even do this for you, which will help streamline your planning. In the couponing community this is often referred to as a “coupon matchup”. Remember to keep a look out for sales that you can combine with a coupon that will also apply toward a gas points reward program. Third, pull the coupons you will be using out of your coupon holder & keep them in a separate envelope or compartment. This will save you from digging through your coupons in the store, which can be become frustrating & time consuming.
When you grocery shop, especially for a family, it’s pretty safe to say that the biggest expenses are meat & produce. It’s no secret that meat & produce coupons don’t come along very often & the denominations are typically minimal in comparison to the price. In the future I will write more in depth about saving money in these categories, but here is a little “crash course” to get you started! Produce costs can be easily offset by shopping at local farmers markets or road side stands. Local produce when bought in season directly from the farmer is much cheaper than the grocery store. Also, keep an eye out for sales groups that will afford you an instant savings or a “Dollars off your next order” coupon when several items are purchased together in a group. These savings or store coupons can help cover the costs of the items that can’t typically be bought using coupons. If the thought of that extra step of planning is too much, big box stores (such as Costco or Sams Club) also offer a reasonable discount when your buy meat in bulk. ANY savings is better than none! Stores will also mark down meat that is within a few days of it’s “Sell by date” typically once a week. Simply freeze the meat & remove it to thaw when ready to use.
Plan your meals for the week, around what is on sale, what you have coupons for & what is already in your pantry. My two favorite websites for planning meals and staying within a budget are www.5dollardinners.com and www.hillbillyhousewife.com. Base your meals around the meat (or protein items) & produce you can find on sale, then fill in your other groceries from there. If you can, find items that the leftovers can be used for another meal. For example, if chicken roasters are on sale for .99c/lb, serve the roaster for a meal along carrots you got for $1 a bunch at the farmers market. Use the tortilla coupons I mentioned last week (Chi-Chi’s .55c/1 pkg) to get some shells & use the leftover meat from your roaster to make quesadillas the next night. This is just a basic example, but using this idea you can come up with endless possibilities to feed yourself & a family.
Good Luck shopping this week! Feel free to post in the comments what great ways you have found to stretch your grocery budget this week. I look forward to hearing some success stories!

LOYALTY CARDS, DOUBLE COUPONS & GAS REWARDS, OH MY!
Welcome back! I hope you have enjoyed “getting your feet wet” with coupons this week. If you got your paper on Sunday, you may have noticed that your region could have received up to FOUR coupon inserts. So that’s a great start to getting a good supply of coupons to help you maximize your savings! I have some great information for you today to get those coupons you’ve been clipping this week to work for you even more! Today I’m going to explain how store loyalty cards work, how to get double coupon value & how to earn free gas simply by shopping at your favorite stores.
Besides using coupons, many stores local to our area have other great rewards programs to help you save money. One of the easiest ways to do this is to obtain a store loyalty card. Many stores give special pricing on their products to loyalty card holders. Some stores also have the option to load e-coupons on to your card simply by registering your card on their website, then loading the coupons. Having a loyalty card also means you will get on the store mailing list where you will get sent coupons & advance notice of sales. If you like to shop at drugstores, all of the major chain stores (ex: CVS or Rite Aid) in our area have promotions each week where you can earn “store bucks” by buying select items. The names of the “store bucks” are different at each store, but the premise is the same for all. By using coupons on the items that earn “store bucks” you can pay a fraction of the cost of the product. So getting these cards is definitely worth it. If you don’t already have store loyalty cards, I challenge you to sign up for a card at your favorite grocery store & drug store. Most stores only allow one card per household, but check with the manager if you have any questions or need clarification on the loyalty card policies.
Another benefit to having a store loyalty card is double coupons! Several chain stores in our area will double your coupons if you are a loyalty card member. Before you attempt to redeem any coupons for doubling I suggest contacting your stores customer service desk & requesting to know the stores individual policy. Giant & Weis stores are my favorite places to double coupons, although the individual store policies vary. My local Giant will double the first coupon toward any item as long as the original value is under a dollar (ex. .75 cent coupons double to $1.50). And my local Weis will double the first four coupons toward any item but the value cannot EXCEED a dollar (ex. .75 cent coupons double to $1.00 only). Whichever type of doubling policy you prefer, you can get big savings on your grocery bill. A great example of one of my favorite coupons to double is the .55 cents off any Chi-Chi’s tortillas. My Giant has the packages for $1.29. The coupon doubles to $1.10 making the cost of the tortillas .19 cents!!! The deal gets even better if the tortillas are part of Gas Point Rewards!
Gas Points?? I can earn free gas?? YUP! Many of our local grocery stores also have some type of rewards program which will earn you cents off a gallon, usually good on one fill-up. Giant, Weis & Redners all have a gas reward program & you can obtain specific details at your local stores. However, they all have one thing in common. By purchasing either specific items, quantities or monetary amounts of products you will earn discounted (and potentially free) gas. The deals usually change weekly, although sometimes special types of promotions are run. Gas deals work best if the specific items required for purchase have coupons available. By spending the least amount of money on the products through coupons, then earning gas rewards on those products, you are having your money work double for you! Everyone needs to eat! Everyone needs to put gas in their car! So why pay full price for both? So when you are at the store this week, check out the gas rewards program! Your car & wallet will thank you for it!
Hope you enjoyed learning more about store rewards programs today!! How much can YOU save by using store rewards this week??
